Everyone appreciates beauty. We seek out the beautiful natural wonders of our planet, great music and art. It is beauty that inspires us and bring a sense of wonder and awe to our lives. Beauty at it’s best transcends the normal.
Our search for God and the truth of Christ’s Incarnation we celebrate each Christmas, is embellished by the beautiful sights, sounds, smells and love it invokes. When we go to Mass, we go to praise God for HIs beauty, love and mercy. But, so many have a block in sensing the truth of the Eucharistic feast, and the gift of Divine Love it provides.
For years, we have taken or grandson to see the Christmas lights that brighten the night this time of year. Our tradition is to drive to the best decorated neighborhoods at see the lights. Our verbal response as we see each marvelous display is Ohhhhhh, Ahhhhhhh. We are in awe of the beauty and the joy they bring.
The Mass and the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist is a much greater moment of beauty and awe. What is stopping us from responding with Ohhhhh, Ahhhhh? Is there anything more beautiful? Can I get an Alleluia?
